“We are entering a new era of responsibility!” January 21, 2009
What a day…January 20th, 2009! As I watched the people crowd the lawn in DC…I felt a new sense of honor to be an American. This is a new beginning for my generation and all generations. We have often been disappointed and our hope has been snuffed-out on more than one occasion. Yesterday our dreams and hopes for this nation’s future were revitalized and expanded. The current situations in America are harsh and in the face of everyone around. From the retired that are seeing their funds dwindle to the elementary school children who have started registering for free lunches….everyone is aware. President Obama has asked us to take action and be accountable. The moments that rang in my ear, yesterday, were:
” We are entering a new era of responsibility.” & “……know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy.”
I have started my pledge to be more involved and put myself back into a healthy spot for my family and my well-being. I joined the Young Women’s Alliance, here in Austin. I hope to do as much as my life allows me to do to make a difference for girls and women in the Austin area. I hope that my talents as a photographer may also be used and that my big heart will be made even bigger through the works of this fine group.
One of the most amazing moments for me, yesterday was the beautiful arrangement, “Air and Simple Gifts”. Parts of this arrangement were taken from an old hymn. “Dance, Dance, wherever you may be….And I’ll lead you all, wherever that may be. And I’ll lead you all in the Dance said he….He cut me down and I leap up high, I am the life that will never, never die.”
I am embedding if for all to enjoy, again! Cheers to a new way of life and Cheers to a new hope!
